July Kaatril (English: In the wind of July) is a 2019 Indian Tamil languageromantic comedy film written and directed by KC Sundaram on his directorial debut. The film stars Ananth Nag, Anju Kurian and Samyuktha Menon in the pivotal roles while Sathish and model Paloma Monnappa in the supportive roles.[1][2]Joshua Sridhar composed music for the film while cinematography is handled by Demel Xavier Edwards.[3]
Plot[edit]
Rajeev (Ananth Nag) has a good job, and is settled financially, but as far as love is concerned, he really isn't. Enters Shreya (Anju Kurian), a student counselor who falls in love instantly with Rajeev and they get engaged soon, but Rajeev finds no spark in their relationship, and breaks the engagement. He finds Revathi (Samyuktha Menon) to be the girl of his dreams, and falls for her. However, he realises Revathi being focused on her passion than him, and understands how he had hurt Shreya. Whether Rajeev found love ultimately is what July Kaatril is all about.

Production[edit]
The project was announced in around late 2017 as the maiden directorial venture by debutant KC Sundaram, who previously served as an assistant to the late director and cinematographer Jeeva who was known for his works in Tamil including the critically acclaimed 2007 film Unnale Unnale.[3] KC Sundaram who worked as co-director along with Jeeva (until his death in 2007) in Unnale Unnale film which was initially suggested to be titled as July Kaatril, revealed the film title as July Kaatril for this project as a tribute to the late director Jeeva who died in 2007. On the other hand, the film title is inspired and taken from the song June Ponal July Katre which was composed by Harris Jayaraj from the film Unnale Unnale. The portions of the film were mostly shot and set in Chennai, Goa and Kodaikanal.[4]
Popular emerging Malayalam actress Samyuktha Menon was roped into play the second female lead in the film and also marks her Tamil film debut through this project.[5]
