08. Anaglyph Software

StereoPhoto Maker for both Mac and PC are in the '3D Software' resources folder on TRACS.
In order to turn the two images taken into a 3-d anaglyph, you will need to use software designed for this purpose. Listed are four of the most popular software packages available
1. The most popular and highly regarded is StereoPhoto Maker (Suto, 2010) for the Windows platform but it also runs well in Linux using WINE and Macs using WineBottler.

The anaglyph creation programs work basically the same. First the left image from the camera is opened and then the right image. The program will combine these two images into a 3-d anaglyph using filters to create an image that can be viewed using the red / cyan glasses. In processing the anaglyph the left eye image is filtered to remove blue & green. The right eye image is filtered to remove red. The two images are then positioned together in close alignment in the resulting image that usually requires some adjustment to maximize the 3-d effect.

Virtually all of theprograms also have an adjustment feature to let the user experiment with alignmentof the images to adjust for any horizontal camera movement or to change theimage 3-d focus points (Fig. 5). For users who want to control all parts of the3-d conversion process, anaglyphs can also be prepared using the popularPhotoshop image editing software (see below)
