Request a New Password through Your HostGator Customer Portal

You can request a new, random cPanel password quickly and easily through your HostGator Customer Portal at https://portal.hostgator.com.

To reset your cPanel password via your billing portal:

  1. Log in to your Billing Portal.
  2. Click Hosting on the left-hand menu.
  3. Locate the package you wish to edit, select Manage under the domain name:
  4. Navigate to Settings and then click Reset Password:
  5. Enter and confirm a new password, or use the password generator, then click Change Account Password:

You will receive a notification that your password has successfully changed as well as an email containing your new password and you will now be able to log into cPanel with the password you have just set.

Change Your Password

When you request a new password through your billing account, the password emailed to you will be a randomly generated password. If you would like to change your password to something easier to remember, you can do so from within cPanel.

Setting a New Password for your MySQL User

To set a new password for a MySQL database user:

  1. Log into cPanel and click MySQL Databases in the Databases section:
  2. In the Current Users section, click Set Password next to the desired database user:

  3. Enter a new password, re-enter the password, then click the Change Password button:
